The Peloponnese

The Peloponnese is a large peninsula in Greece with small valleys and rugged mountains and coastlines. The Corinth Canal cuts through the isthmus that connects the region with the rest of the mainland, making it almost an island.

Tolo

Tolo enjoys a sheltered position on the east coast. A pleasant long sandy beach hugs the blue waters of the bay, it is a superb spot for all water sports, or just sunbathing on the soft golden sand.

Tolo is an ideal base to explore the Northern Peloponnese, for close at hand are the classical sites of Epidavrous, Mycenae, Corinth, Sparta & Mystra, whilst close by is the historical town of Nafplio.

Nafplio

The first capital of Greece, is divided into the old and the new town, with both parts overlooked by the Palamidi, the famous Venetian fort, which was constructed in the early 18thc. The old town was mainly built in the early 19thc but buildings still exist from the Venetian era. A visit to the Bourtzi ( a small rock Island - fort at the entrance to the port) in the harbour is well worth a visit.

Assini

Close to Tolo is also the ancient site of Assini, whilst just a short drive away is Drepano with access to the Plaka Beach with its abundance of water sports and just a little further is the long uncluttered beach at Vivari.

The Peloponnese is one of the most historically famous parts of Greece. It is a land of rugged mountains, green valleys, the ancient games of Olympia, and a coastline with some of the best beaches in Greece. Ancient temples and ruins stand at Corinth, Epidaurus, Mycenae, Navplion, Olympia, and other historic sites.
