Getting There

Only 160km from Athens and 54km from Patras one can get to Diakoto easily either by the use of the frequent buses 'KTEL ACHAIAS' to Egio and from there to Diakopto. Or by the use of the Peloponesian train which takes 2 hours and 45 minutes from Athens and 50 minutes from Patras.

About Diakopto

Diakopto is situated only 160 km from Athens at the northern section of the Peloponese. A great number of tourists visit Diakopto all year around. Winter visitors can enjoy a unique journey up to Kalavrita with the famous funicular train 'Othondotos' and during the summer season travelers can enjoy the beautiful, clean beaches along the length of the coast of the area.

Diakopto, got its name due to a land slide which caused the mountain to split. It is the birthplace of the well-known comedian Dionisis Papayannopoulos. It is a little town built in the midst of dense citrus trees and wild flowers.

This traditional village is complemented by traditional coffee shops located in the town square, next to the train station. Naturally taverna and 'meze' houses with home made food, local recipes and fresh fish are also available both in the centre of town and by the port. Bars, coffee shops and clubs exist within easy access for night entertainment to suit a variety of tastes.
